I
am always inspired when I come across world class organisations which have been
highly successful and are able to think differently than others to achieve more
and bring more benefits to the business and wider community.
Google
as many of you will know allows its workers to take one day in five to work on
anything that inspires them, regardless of its profit potential. The 80:20 rule
again! Plus you can do this whilst relaxing in areas like the garden at the
Googleplex above. How cool is that.
You
can imagine how enthused I was when I found out that they have short courses
called Search Inside Yourself. Developed in Collaboration with Daniel Goleman,
author of Emotional Intelligence. Which is our book of the month (above), sold
in 40 countries with over 5 millions copies in circulation, it is clear he was
onto something that resonated with people.

Emotional Intelligence: Why it can matter more than IQ
There
was only one book that fitted with the article on SIY from Google. It has to be
Daniel Golemans 1998 book on Emotional Intelligence: why it can matter more than
IQ
Many
will have read it when it first came out, it might spark your curiosity to dip
into it again. Re-mind yourself how our rational and emotional minds shape our
destiny.
Enjoy.
